The crew was about to move in, and needed a working network fast.
The client was renting an industrial site in Concord West for a film production and needed a network for a team of about 60 — for on-site office work, production coordination and everyday connectivity. They wanted it ready before the site opened, leaving about a week from first enquiry to move-in.
As a short-term site, the plan had to balance fast installation, coverage of priority areas, later set-build changes, and easy removal of equipment at the end of the project.
- Priority areasUpstairs meeting room and offices, while also covering the ground-floor warehouse.
- ScaleAbout 60 people expected, connecting mainly over WiFi.
- DurationAn initial period of about three months.
- What the client wantedA network ready before staff arrived, coordinated by one provider, with as little of their time as possible.

From first enquiry to move-in day,
there was about a week.
The client gave us their basic requirements and the leasing agent's contact, then a floor plan. From there, Sydney IT Fix led the broadband checks, site survey, access coordination, equipment purchasing, provider liaison and installation. The agent had limited information about the existing services, so much of it had to be verified on site.

Questions listed before the survey
Using the client's floor plan and early conversations, we prepared a site checklist, key questions and initial placement ideas. The survey focused on headcount, priority work areas, existing broadband equipment, power points, available cabling and likely changes to the site — the basis for our proposal and quote.

The fastest route to the same plan
After confirming the site's NBN equipment supported the target plan, we used the client's lease as proof of address. Weighing each provider's document requirements, checks and processing times, we chose the one that could activate the same tier fastest, and the 2000/500 Mbps service was activated.

Tri-band WiFi 7 mesh, supplied on rental
We used brand-new TP-Link Deco tri-band WiFi 7 mesh units with a combined retail price of about A$2,300, supplied to the client on rental. The selection took into account:
- About 60 expected users, mostly on wireless
- Coverage priority for the upstairs meeting room and offices
- The warehouse space, available power and cabling
- A tight installation window and short-term rental
- Easy adjustment later, and easy collection at the end
The units support the 6 GHz band, adding an extra band for a film set that may be busy with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz devices. Real-world results are judged through on-site deployment and testing.

Upstairs and down, built around the site
Depending on the environment and cable routes, some mesh nodes were connected by cable and the rest wirelessly. Placement balanced power, priority areas and test results, and left room to adjust once staff moved in.

Looking after others at the same address
After the new service went live, we found another user at the same address relied on the original connection. We explained the situation in person and connected their existing router through the existing cabling, restoring their internet. Both sides keep their own WiFi and share the broadband connection.
Every key stage has an email record and filed documents.
